Addressing the most pressing needs of our commUNITY

“By participating in charity works,” volunteers “not only help the people in their own communities, but they also become closer to each other as they are all working together for the same cause.”

– Dr. Alireza Nurbakhsh, Founder of Sufi Service Committee

The Joy of the Holiday is not in the present. It is in His Presence!

Pioneering a Charity

Cooperative Endeavor

Volunteering to prepare meals allows us to witness the collective effort required to positively impact our community. It reminds us of the importance of giving back to our communities and shows us the power of societal convergence. Volunteers feel the event, inspired to continue to find ways to constructively impact the world surrounding us. Our synchronology makes it possible for the fruits of our love and togetherness to touch our neighbors.

The hallmark of Sufi Service Committee is the expression of love for others and the willingness to help and assist other human beings. No matter how massive our economy is, this system is worthless if we cannot help and love another being. A tree that does not bear sweet fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Prolificacy

The capstone of SSC leadership is the volunteers’ sense of accomplishment.

“Mr. Noor, the coordinator, does an excellent job of ensuring that the team is equipped to work effectively with a sense of accomplishment. Volunteers incredibly feel achieved and rewarded.”

Working alongside others who are equally committed to the cause makes everyone feel like we are part of something bigger. The sense of camaraderie and shared purpose gives us a renewed sense of hope and wakes us up to the momentousness of coming together to aid those in need.

During the meal distribution, volunteers often witness heartwarming moments that further reinforce the magnitude of providing nutritious meals to those in need. “As we were handing out the meals to the residents, one of them looked down at her tray and said, “Wow!” with a smile. It was clear that she was pleasurably astounded by the assortment of nutritious food on the plate.”

Planning and Preparation

“One thing that struck me is the amount of planning and preparation that goes into providing meals for the shelter’s residents. We have to consider dietary restrictions, the availability of ingredients, and the logistics of distributing the food to those in need.” This gesture highlights the impact that healthy and balanced meals can have on someone’s life, especially those who are in the process of recovering from homelessness and food insecurity. Seeing how much work goes into these efforts makes us appreciate the value of management that is dedicated to providing nutritious meals with tenacity and dignity. We need to be mindful that SSC is an all-volunteer-based organization having no paid employees.

Locality

The service is a reminder of how “Small” acts of kindness and support can have a magnitudinous impact on the lives of others, and it reinforces the assessment of our shared endeavor in providing nutritious meals. We are ordinaries doing the extraordinary, local activist with a world vision. Sufi Service is not a political entity. Nor do we have any stance on social platforms. We start on an individual basis in our daily interactions with others, transforming them into compassionate helping hands!

Feeling Closer

Volunteers grow closer to each other as they all work together for the same cause: love, kindness, and compassion. The management pays special attention to connecting volunteers to kindle friendships beyond the service.

Definition

While most organizations are obsessed with donation and fund-raising, SSC prizes service!

Harmony

The culmination of this great strategy is moving the campaign towards unity, unity in purpose, unity among volunteers, and unity in our statement with our behavior.

HOW TO DIRECT YOUR KINDNESS

Food insecurity has doubled across Eastern Massachusetts, but you can double your impact by giving to our campaign today. You have the power to make a difference this season for more families like Lien’s.

Lien is a local mother of three who is struggling to make ends meet due to today’s high food prices. “I usually spend $700 a month on food,” she says. Lien relies heavily on food pantries for the healthy food her family needs, especially during the holidays. She shares, “Without this help, I don’t think I would be able to survive.”
