Addressing the most pressing needs of our commUNITY

“The path of love and compassion requires the seeker to treat others as if they are part of her; to feel others ’ pain knowing it is her own.”

The Rhythm of Camaraderie

As the coordinator for the July 2025 Sufi Service event, I found myself filled with a mixture of excitement and nerves. The pressure of ensuring that everything went smoothly weighed heavily on my mind, but the support of my incredible team helped ease my apprehensions.

Working alongside Ali, Sally, Bill, and Kelly felt like being part of a close-knit family. Despite the blistering heat that enveloped the kitchen, making it feel like we were working in a sauna, the spirit of camaraderie kept us going. The temperature may have soared above 100 degrees, but Sally’s determination as the head chef was unwavering. She didn’t take even a moment’s break, leading us with her tireless energy and passion for serving others.

Kelly Jo made sure every patron felt welcomed and cared for, ensuring they received exactly what they needed.

Kelly, with her warm heart, made a delightful breakfast that not only nourished us but also set a positive tone for the day. Her radiant kindness extended beyond our team; she made sure every patron felt welcomed and cared for, ensuring they received exactly what they needed. Watching her interact with the community reinforced our shared mission and purpose.

As we washed and chopped vegetables, the rhythm of our teamwork created a comforting atmosphere. It was during this time that I truly appreciated the bond we were forging. After a while, we took a much-needed break outside the kitchen. The gentle breeze felt like a refreshing blessing, momentarily lifting the weight of the day. In those serene moments of connection, we shared laughter and stories, reinforcing the understanding that we were all united in our commitment to serving those in need.

The lunch spread looked fantastic. When Mr. Noor complimented our efforts, it filled me with pride. It was a testament to our hard work and dedication. I realized that despite my initial nerves, everything had come together beautifully. We had not only fed those who came to us looking for support but also nourished each other’s spirits.

The charity work is not just about the food we serve but about the love, empathy, and connection we share. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with such selfless souls, and I look forward to future events where we can continue to make a difference together: Love Forward!

2. At-home meal preparation

3. Donation: We do not have the luxury of time. We are stronger than ever, but we have the hardest challenges too.
